Dental surgery is one of the branches of dentistry that deals with treatment within the oral cavity. Many people associate it only with the removal of wisdom teeth, however, a dental surgeon also performs other procedures, among which can be mentioned: root apex resection, hemisection, frenulum incision of lips and tongue, or exposure of teeth retained in the arch.
Surgical procedures prepare the oral cavity for prosthetic treatment or procedures in the field of dental implant prosthetics.
Our dental clinic specializes in surgical procedures, particularly in the field of tooth extraction (removal), which cannot be subjected to treatment. The procedure is preceded by a detailed diagnosis of the problematic tooth.
We perform tooth extraction (including wisdom teeth) 100% painlessly, ensuring full comfort for our patients.
We were the first in Poznań to introduce painless tooth extraction to our offer - procedures in nitrous oxide (laughing gas), providing comfort and loss of consciousness with 100% safety even for our youngest patients. Our extensive experience allows us to perform painless tooth extraction while maintaining the full safety of our patients.
Our surgeons are specialists in performing the most difficult wisdom tooth extractions, including the removal of impacted teeth (invisible in the oral cavity).
In our daily practice, we use modern technologies, including CBCT computer tomography and PRF membrane-assisted tissue regeneration - thanks to which we can handle even the most complicated cases. Computer tomography allows for precise location of impacted teeth in relation to adjacent teeth and surrounding anatomical structures (nerves, maxillary sinuses, etc.) and allows for early diagnosis of other teeth.
The procedure of removing wisdom teeth, including impacted ones, is one of the most difficult tooth extraction procedures, due to their location in the oral cavity (most often difficult access) and proximity to other anatomical structures - the mandibular nerve, maxillary tubercle or maxillary sinus.
After the extraction of a wisdom tooth, 60 - 70% of patients may experience pain, subfebrile condition, numbness or bruxism for 2 - 3 days. The duration of the procedure, depending on the complexity and location, ranges from five minutes to 1.5 hours.
After tooth extraction, the surgeon secures the tooth socket, thereby minimizing the risk of postoperative complications. The patient remains in constant contact with the Clinic after the procedure, and all follow-up visits are included in the price of the extraction.
Local anesthesia guarantees complete painlessness of the procedure (the duration of anesthesia is about 4 - 5 hours).
Apical root resection is a procedure within the field of dental surgery, which involves the removal of the root apex while simultaneously cleaning the bone from pathological changes and inflammatory conditions. The procedure may be performed on patients whose teeth do not qualify for re-treatment of root canal or if periapical changes have occurred that will not respond to such treatment. It is often a "last chance" procedure saving the tooth from extraction.
The resection is performed under local anesthesia. During the procedure, the dental surgeon exposes the bone in the area of the problematic tooth root in order to remove the infected or inflamed tissue. A fragment of the root is also removed. Then, the canal is filled with special cement, and the bone defect is filled with a bone substitute biomaterial.
After the resection, local discomfort and swelling may occur, which should disappear after a few days. If the pain persists and intensifies, bleeding and a subfebrile condition occur, it is necessary to immediately consult a doctor.
We also offer our Patients conservative treatment of jaw fractures.
The fusion of the jaw takes about 6-8 weeks, during which the Patient can only consume liquids and semi-liquid foods. During this period, meticulous oral hygiene is also necessary. After this period, the splint is removed. Conservative treatment is usually used as supportive treatment for surgical procedures.
The extraction is performed under local anesthesia, which completely eliminates discomfort during the procedure. After a few hours, when the anesthesia subsides, transient discomfort may occur, for which the patient is provided with painkillers, antiseptic preparations, and sometimes antibiotics.
This is local anesthesia, which completely allows for the elimination of sensation in a given area, while at the same time the patient remains in full contact with the doctor, and after the procedure, they can go home without any obstacles.
You should not eat or drink for 2 hours after the procedure, avoid hot drinks and food for one day, do not smoke tobacco, do not drink alcohol for at least 5 days, refrain from physical exertion for 7 days, and also do not use a sauna or solarium during this time. Special care of the post-operative area is recommended (cold compresses, soft post-operative brush, antibacterial rinse) as well as responding to any alarming signals and possible contact with the attending physician. The above recommendations are issued in the form of a brochure for the patient.
